In Santa Maria you can easily use the public transportation. This has a high coverage and usually you can take the buses until 10:15 in the night. SMAT runs routs all around the city. They have routes between Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo as well. The riders can easily connect the CCAT routes and go north. A ride cost $2.00 if you are taking a 33 mile bus ride. You can also take Breeze Bus that will stop close to the Vandenburg Air Base, and also close to Lompoc. If the public transportation is not enough for your needs than you can also rent a car.
Things to do there
In Santa Maria there aren’t many attractions for tourists. Still, you can see photos and a lot of documents about Captain Alan Hancock and his history.
Other things for you to see are:
- Boomers! Fun Park – this is a place where you can entertain yourself with batting cages, go-karts, miniature golf, arcade, and also rock climbing on a wall.
- Hi-Way Drive – this is one of the few drive-in places where you can watch a movie.
- Santa Maria Speedway – Gates they open in the morning at 3PM, and most of the races start at 5 PM. This immense park has lakes, hiking, pony rides, and biking trails. The access is free, so you can take your family there and have plenty of fun without spending a dime.

· Santa Maria Town Center can be a good shopping place and you can find it between Main Street (Route 166) and Broadway (Route 135).
Theatre
Santa Maria’s Allan Hancock College hold the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts (PCPA) and many artists held concerts there.
