Allan Hancock College
Allan Hancock is a California college which can be found in the city of Santa Maria, in the county of Santa Barbara. This college has a total of 11,000 credit students and around 5,500 community services and noncredit students during each semester.
The Allan Hancock College had its beginnings in 1920, when it was started by the School District of Santa Maria. Initially the name was the Junior College of Santa Maria but eventually they had their own wing built. Thanks to the increasing number of people which enrolled, the Alan Hancock’s new location was at Hancock Field. After some time its name was changed, so it would honor Hancock Allan George. Another bond from 1958 made sure that the site where the college was located was bought.
In 1964, a new building for business education opened and in 1965 another building for fine arts appeared. In 1967, a number of other buildings were finished, including the student services, the administration, the gymnasium and the technology building. One year later the center for performing arts was also finished. In 2007, they remodeled the Resource Center for Learning and during the same year they added a building for community education which has modern offices and computers. In 2006, a new bond with a value of $180 million allowed for a new set of buildings to begin construction and they will be ready in 10 years.
In Lompoc city, you can find the Valley Center, which began operations in 1999. There are a total of three buildings with over 58,000 sq. ft of surface. These buildings have been designed to be used for different reasons, so they are multifunctional. This center was found on an area of 23 acres. In the buildings there are some for administrative purposes and there are the ones which are used for education.
